Ope I Won West Michiganders Among Winners Of Michigan Secretary Of States First Ever I Voted Sticker Competition

OPE, I WON | West Michiganders among winners of Michigan Secretary of State's first-ever "I Voted" sticker competition

West Michigan took home two of the top three prizes

The Michigan Secretary of State's first-ever "I Voted" sticker competition has wrapped up, and West Michiganers took home two of the top three prizes in the contest. The competition was open to all Michigan residents, and the winning designs were selected by a panel of judges. More than 1,000 submissions were received, and the winners were announced on the contest's official website.

The first-place prize went to Ann Arbor resident Emily Doerr, while the second-place prize went to Grand Rapids resident Sarah Johnson. Muskegon resident Faith Baker took third place. The winning designs will be used on "I Voted" stickers that will be distributed at polling places across the state during the November election.

Winners had very different design approaches

The winning designs took very different approaches to the contest's theme. Doerr's design features a stylized Michigan mitten with the words "I Voted" written across the top. Johnson's design features a more traditional "I Voted" sticker with a Michigan-shaped background. Baker's design features a group of people holding hands and wearing voting stickers with the words "I Voted" written across the bottom.

Despite their different approaches, all three winning designs share a common message: the importance of voting.

Contest encourages people to vote

The "I Voted" sticker competition was designed to encourage people to vote in the upcoming election. The contest was open to all Michigan residents, regardless of age or political affiliation.

The Michigan Secretary of State's office hopes that the contest will help to increase voter turnout in the November election. The 2018 midterm election had low turnout, with only about 55% of eligible Michigan residents voting.

Prizes included cash, a trip to Lansing, poll worker training

In addition to having their designs featured on "I Voted" stickers, the winners of the contest also received cash prizes. The first-place prize was $500, the second-place prize was $250, and the third-place prize was $100.

The winners also received a trip to Lansing to meet with Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and attend a poll worker training session.

Designs will encourage people, especially young people, to vote

The winning designs are all eye-catching and creative, and they are sure to encourage people to vote in the upcoming election. The contest was a great success, and the Michigan Secretary of State's office hopes that it will help to increase voter turnout in November.
